How to Organize a Wedding: Step by Step

Hello everyone,

A few days after our request, when we had already informed the closest relatives and friends of our great news, I realized that now I had to organize a wedding. And the problem was not just that, I had to organize a Spanish wedding! Being a foreigner I can assure you that that scares a lot!

I had already attended several weddings here in Seville as a guest and I had always been very impressed. All those details organized to the maximum, the details of the guests, the dress so careful of the guests and much more. How different are the weddings in Belgium, much simpler, simpler (and in my opinion less beautiful than here).

So on the one hand I was delighted to be able to get married “to the Spanish” but of course I was there with my biggest challenge: “How do I organize a wedding” … Well, in the beginning, no idea, until I started browsing and I opened this blog (that day in the summer of 2012) as a journal and support for myself!

Throughout all this time I realized that most brides do not know where to start (well, hey, it was not the only eeeeh) and for that reason today I want to help you with the schedule of tasks for a wedding.

The most important steps according to the calendar are these:

1 year or two before the wedding:

  • Choose the date in which we want to get married.
  • Calculate number of guests and approximate budget.
  • Search and reserve the place of the Banquet.
  • Search and reserve Church or court.

9 to 11 months before the wedding:

  • Search suppliers: photographer, videographer, catering, wedding planner, decorator etc …
  • Prepare a preliminary list of guests (a little trick here). Decide bridesmaids, pages and damsels.
  • Start selecting the wedding dress.
  • Think of possible destinations for the honeymoon and request budgets.

6 to 8 months before the wedding:

  • Book the honeymoon in the travel agency.
  • For the religious wedding in the parish of the link will indicate the dates of premarital courses.
  • Search and hire music for the wedding.
  • Select and order the invitations.
  • Choose and buy the alliances. You can also hold a workshop to create your own wedding bands, a unique experience that will fill you with pride and feelings every time you see the symbol of union in your hand.
  • Book the honeymoon in the travel agency.

4 to 5 months before the wedding:

  • Request and prepare documentation for religious or civil wedding. You can find the civil script and the script of a religious wedding in the links that I indicate.
  • Reserve rooms in a hotel for guests residing outside.
  • Buy the suit of the Bridegroom.
  • Buy bridal accessories: shoes, headdress / veil, earrings etc etc.
  • Select the hairdresser, the make-up artist for the bride.
  • Determine the decoration of the wedding.
  • Reserve the providers that you have not yet reserved.

3 months before the wedding:

  • Send invitations to the guests to organize their agenda.
  • Prepare ceremony, protocol, readings, music.
  • Order the details for the guests.
  • Reserve the flowers for the wedding.
  • Book transportation for guests
  • Prepare the dance of the couple (choreography)

2 months before the wedding:

  • Make the hair and makeup test
  • Select the music for the ceremony, reception and banquet.
  • Try and choose the menu.
  • Facial treatment for the bride

1 month before the wedding:

  • Call and reconfirm all contracted providers.
  • Confirm the attendance of all your guests.
  • Reconfirm the reservation of your honeymoon.

And now the most important advice I can give you as a married bride. Some days before the wedding relax and enjoy. Remember that at all weddings something goes wrong … It is like this and you have to assume it and once all the details are closed, enjoy your wedding go out as it comes out!
